The Company

Our client is an established and growing civil infrastructure contractor who are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and deliver 3 Waters projects across the Waikato region.


The Role

With a strong forward workload and long-term programme of works, this role offers the opportunity to lead technically complex water infrastructure projects from planning through to completion.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical capability, commercial acumen, and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, councils, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources, materials, and labour
  • End-to-end management of 3 Waters projects across the Waikato region
  • Planning, programming, and resourcing works to meet contractual milestones
  • Managing project budgets, cash flow, forecasting, and cost-to-complete
  • Leading site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve delivery outcomes
  • Managing contractual obligations, variations, and risk mitigation
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements
  • Coordinating with designers, councils, and utility providers
  • Providing accurate reporting on programme, cost, risk, and performance
  • Driving a strong safety culture and leading by example on site

Skills And Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil infrastructure delivery
  • Strong technical knowledge of water, wastewater, and stormwater construction
  • Experience working with local councils and water authorities in New Zealand
  • Solid understanding of NZ construction contracts and delivery models
  • Strong commercial and financial management capability
  • Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary site teams and subcontractors
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
